XD & XDM modifications

What mods have you done to your XD and/or XDM pistols? I've installed a solid stainless steel guide rod, aluminum striker indicator guide, and a PRP trigger kit. I haven't notice much of a difference from the guide rod, other than weight. But I do have a Streamlight hanging off the front of the pistol which adds a bunch of front weight. The PRP trigger kit though has been awesome! It's a huge improvement over the stock trigger. :)

I have a few Pierce grip extensions for my compact. It's not as bulky as the mag extension. Doesn't rattle as much either. But that's the only mod I have done. I would like to send it to the factory for an OD lower receiver paint job, sight upgrade, and trigger upgrade.

What does the PRP trigger do? How much does it cost? Can you post a link, please?
Does the factory do duracoat/cerakote? I thought the factory OD was actual OD molded polymer.

I haven't done anything. Other than talon grips.. The XD9SC got a paint job that was later removed, and is now sporting a mirror finish slide. No real mods though.
I'm not entirely sure how they do the paint job. They might just replace the lower for all I know. I'll lookinto it...
I have seen no reason to mod anything on my XD9 SC. Perfect right from the start...IMO!

It removed take up and over travel as well as making it lighter. It requires very minor fitting but it's easy.
On my XDm 3.8 I would like to put XS Big Dot sights like I have on my XD Service but trying to find someone that can do it other the Springfield. The person who did my XD did a good job but said he would never do another one.
Only mods on any of mine so far are Pearce pinky's on my compacts. Other than that I shoot 'em like they made 'em...
Here's mine. DIY customer trigger job. Magwell, stippling of the grip, GunKote and DIY slide lightening, front red fiber sight.

Welcome to the Springfield Forum wrinkles !!
I was at one time thinking of the Galloway Tactical upgrades for my Ruger SR40C. They have what they claim is a drop in trigger, But i am such a SPAZ that i would need a gunsmith anyway. The only thing i can really see, is having a metal guiderod

I have two XDm pistols: 9mm Compact and 45ACP 5.25" Competition Series.

My Compact is my EDC and I have replaced the sights with Trijicon Tritium Night Sights. The front edge of the rear sight is a little better for one handed racking on the belt. Plus at night, in my mattress holster, those little green eyes staring back at me feel very reassuring. I also have two of the short mags with the pinky extensions. Very much worth the effort. Easy to install for yourself. Just enough to get a very full grip.

My 45 is pretty much stock. I have had to replace the recoil spring once. I don't practice with it as much as my EDC. But I do use it for IDPA Classifier since it is legal for all 3 pistol divisions.
I've done the following to my XD 45 Tactical

Stainless Slide Stop Lever
Stainless Disassembly Lever
Stainless Mag Release Button
Stainless Aluminum Striker Spring Guide
Stainless Loaded Chamber Indicator

TruGlo TFO Tritium & Fiber Optic Gun Sight

This is a great gun

mods to my XDm 5.25 9mm

I hated my XDm out of the box because of the trigger. Did a PRP Ultimate Match Trigger kit my self and man what a difference. Light crisp with no overtravel and short reset.
I also did the DPM recoil reducing spings and rods on mine and the jury is still out on that as far as I am concerened. NO big difference.
Want to get the Extreme Grip tape but they do not list the 5.25 as it fitting.
Going to do the Grip safety from PSP as well as the mag release upgrade.
Done then I think for a while
Except for the sights, mine are entirely stock. I'm a relatively new shooter, so I have limited experiences to compare triggers. I don't see anything wrong with the stock triggers. Pull weight seems very consistent. Reset distance is pretty short, maybe 1/16".

I suppose trigger feel is one of the most personal perceptions of a gun. Maybe a replacement would feel a lot better to me, but the stock trigger feels good enough that I don't see a need to change it.
New XD owner and I'd like to know if I can get fiber optic front sites for my XD Tactical 5.0" 9mm?
I'm pretty sure you can. Both the XD and the XDm series have standard dovetail mounts for their front sights. I put TFO sights on both ends of my XDm 3.8 Compact 9mm.
