I was cleaning my XD-S today and noticed the plate at the end of the recoil spring assembly that seats itself at the underside of the barrel was jagged and had some dings.

I don't recall this being the case the last few times I cleaned it. I've had this pistol (bought new) less than 10 months.

Is this a problem? Is it considered normal wear and tear? It's actually been awhile since I've been to the range but I think this pistol has only ever malfunctioned once on me.

My XDs recoil guide is the same way. I've never had a problem with it.

Are you having issue with it? I usually keep an extra one just in case, my Beretta had a polymer one until I got a Bedair stainless replacement. Wish he was still around. :(
