Been seeing around some places that steel case ammo can damage your firearm. Just started stocking up on ammo but don't want to buy chappy ammo. Right now I have two 9mm's XDm and a Nano.

Well cap, I have fired several thousand rounds of steel cased ammo in both rifle and pistol and havent had any problems, either with the ammo or the firearms. The only thing I dont like about steel cases is that I cant reload them.

In my case, the results are mixed.

I've fired hundreds of rounds of steel case - Tulamo and Monarch brands - 9mm through my XD9 (and through a CZ) without a single problem, but I had numerous problems with a single box (50) of .380 steel case ammo through a Ruger compact.

Not sure precisely what conclusion that supports....

I tried TulAmmo in my XDm 9mm. It jammed up in the magazine. The casings are rougher than brass. After about 6 rounds, you push down enough to get #7 in the mag and the 6 get stuck.

If you do get 10 rounds in they won't feed reliably. Had an unbelievable malfunction in an IDPA match. One round stuck part way in the chamber, one stuck facing backwards next to that one and a third facing up. Never shooting TulAmmo again in my XDm.

YMMV.

BTW, don't forget recent US restriction of Russian ammo.
