Greetings to all.Just signed up here.I recently bought a 1911 Mil-Spec, a noticed that the slide movement was a bit rough at one spot along it's travel.I disassembled the slide, and noticed that the last 3 digits of the serial number were engraved on the inside rear of the slide, right on the portion of the slide that the disconnector rides on. Apparently the disconnector was catching on the stippled surface of the engraving. It's not enough to interfere with operation, but I am wondering if this is a normal production procedure for Springfield?-

Yes it is. But not only Springfield. It can be stoned smooth enough not to be felt with a few strokes of a stone.

Thanks. I have some stones and I will do that. I was very impressed with the frame/slide/barrel fit; best of any 1911 I've owned. That choice of a location for the number is a little disappointing though. Anyway, good to know it's not unusual, and presumably not a problem.
