Thanks for running this great site. Lots of good information and great people. I have a Springfield TRP that I have owned for about a month. I came to Springfield 1911s through my neighbor, a young US Marine Corps Captain. I have know him for over 20 years. As he was leaving the Corps for other public service, my wife and I wanted to thank him for his service and we bought him a gift certificate at our LGS and he used it to get a Springfield MC Operator. When he received his pistol he showed it to me, how it worked, etc. We went to our local indoor range and fired the weapon. It is a great pistol. At that time I had a Glock 21 given to me as a gift about 5 years ago. I noticed I was shooting much better with his 1911 than I was with my Glock. (No Glock bashing here, I own 3 Glocks and they are terrific.) With the exposure to my neighbor's 1911, I had to have one. I liked the TRP and bought it. I'm really enjoying the weapon and I haven't lost the guide rod spring cap yet either. (Okay I did have to fish it out from behind the washing machine, but only once.)
