Replacing connector lock and connector lock pin

So am I correct in assuming you install the larger roll pin with the hole in it through the slot that the op rod spring and guide goes through but with the hole pointing upwards? Then I drive in the smaller roll pin with a punch into the larger one which will lock it all in place? I can't find any information on how to replace those parts so I'm assuming that's how it is done.

Welcome to the forum. I don't have an M1A but hopefully someone on here can help you with your inquiry. I'm guessing you've already tried the Youtube/Rumble route and googled for information.
I stumbled across a video showing it done as I thought it was done. I also reached out to brownells support to ask them. I did not see the vertical pin when I was disassembling to get to the op rod spring and guide. I did not read the manual, so I did not know you can simply pull the guide rod a bit to relive tension and then slide the vertical roll pin to the side which allows you to remove the spring and guide rod. I just seen the big roll pin and thought it needed to be punched out with a roll punch and when I did it broke of the vertical roll pin piece. So even if something looks simple, read the manual or watch videos on how it is done. Luckily it's a simple piece to replace.

Been there and done that. It's a wise person who realizes they don't really know how to do something before they undertake the project and will take the time to gather the needed information and knowledge ahead of time. Some mistakes are just frustrating, others can be expensive. Hopefully we learn from our mistakes and hence won't repeat them.
I have so many people on various forums are will to give their expertise to people who ask questions when they don't understand something. Its when people try and 'fix' something and don't ask. Can be expensive and/or damaging that way.
