Wow, it sure is tough to reinstall the slide stop lever on the RO Compact. I finally found a way to depress the plunger while pushing in the lever, but it sure wasn't easy. Hopefully, parts will wear in with use.

Polishing the end of the stop will work better than waiting for it to wear, which may never happen. The old trick is to insert the corner of a credit card between the plunger and stop, which just sort of works. Adjusting a slide stop so that it just pops in is kind of an art.

I've only owned Colts in the past so this side stop issue is new to me. On Colts, its just pops right in. I used the little gismo that snaps onto the recoil guide rod. Then, with the slide almost in the proper position, I used my thumb nail to depress the plunger until the slide stop engaged it. Then, with the plunger in its groove and the slide stop resting against the slide, I just had to move the slide a little to drive the slide stop home. Such an ordeal.
