Prodigy

Like most, I've been patiently waiting for the release of the Prodigy. A few gun shops have them in stock however, the only ones arriving are the 4.25" with the optics installed. The 5" Prodigy are arriving without optics and the shops are telling customers that none of the 5" have the optics and Springfield has not released the Hex for distribution. Springfield, what gives?

Mine came off with no problems, no oil or vise or anything extra.:unsure::unsure:

Then again, shooting mine with a 12lbs recoil spring during break-in may have helped loosen things up some.:ROFLMAO:

Good Luck!(y)

Hey guys new 1911 here. May I ask when you push in the slide stop when reassembling does the slide stop plunger easily retract or do you have to push it in to get the slide stop to go in? Sorry to hijack your post!
I held and played with the prodigy at the store and loved it. I hope it will some day come in a smaller barrel like the Bul armory SAS 11 with 3.25 barrel.
Mine was pretty much "average" to push in right from the beginning, but the 10-8 Performance Slide Stop I switched to made it even easier. No way to get an "idiot scratch" with the improved slide stop from 10-8 (FWIW, I've installed them on all of my 1911's now).

I don't think S.A. will be releasing a version with a barrel shorter than the 4.25" model, but it would be nice to have more options...
My prodigy is for sale of anyone is looking. It has run flawlessly for the couple of range trips I had it on. I've just decided to consolidate my collection and focus on adding more of my bucket list items.

I've had 1911's where both is true. I normally push in the plunger with something to hopefully avoid scratching the frame. There is a technique you can find on Youtube where you bring the slidestop in a little low and at an angle in order for it to retract the plunger and properly seat. Welcome to forum by the way. You may want to go to the New Member section and tell us a little something about yourself.
