I just traded for a full size 1911-A1 that has a flat dark earth/brown finish with everything mil-spec except for a Commander hammer and a extended ambi safety. The finish does not look like a aftermarket cerakote job. The seller said it was a "special run" for some company. Nice gun but I don't like the finish color, and would prefer better sights and a beavertail.

Serial # N408xxx. Does this make sense? I would just trade it rather than put money in it unless it's something special.

I bought a Range Officer Operator and it is Parkerized and I'm starting to fall out of love for the finish.
I like it too much to sell, so I'm thinking a trip To Springfield Custom Shop for a refinish.
Last I looked a refinish was $250.00

Have a picture of the thing and know the manufacturer from the markings on it? Just a serial number doesn't really say much without more information.
