I've been waiting for the Manual Safety version of the Hellcat Pro, and I got the email from Springfield this morning:

The new Hellcat® Pro with manual safety combines the performance of a larger handgun with class-leading concealability and capacity, while also offering the benefit of an ambidextrous frame-mounted manual safety. Many manufacturers in both America and Europe no longer feel that a manual safety is required as many first time shooters or those who do not practice enough fail to disengage the safety when shooting. Glock and many others just do not offer that option or even the popular M&P, among many more. Same as European manufacturers also do not offer a Grip Safety.

Nobody says you have to engage it, so having it is not a problem. All those guns should have them.
In the future, I bet they will. They drag their feet because the safety adds more cost to produce the pistols.
So don't use it if you don't like it.
