I think I'm jonesing for a new handgun. I like what I'm learning about the CZs. They seem to make some nice firearms. But then again, I might want a Springfield 1911. I don't have a 1911. Or maybe I want that Ruger 1911. Or should it be a Colt? I don't own any 9 mm or .45 ACP.

Tell me what you know about any of these. I don't even know where to begin.

If I might make a suggestion, Winds, is there a lgs close by? Or if you are looking for an older model, a pawn shop? Go by one or the other, or both and try several on for fit. I'm sure you have an idea of what calibre you want. Anyway, good luck and have fun.

I have a springfield 1911 range officer my buddy has a colt xse 1911. My groups were better with the springfield, his were tighter with the springfield and after a few mags he had feed problems in the colt. I have never had a problem and it loves any 1911 mag I put in it. I will say I liked some of the colts features... Mostly the full length guide rod and I like his safety is ambidextrous although mine is way more comfortable to operate and I prefer my grip safety. Also our triggers appear identical. Long story short I love the springfield but both make beautiful guns.

I visited a friend last June who is a Colt man all the way. He loves his Colt 1911 but even he said the Springfield makes a 1911 that rivals his colt. For a less money.

Okay, so I'm still learning and I ask some very basic questions but your post implies all 1911 will take the same magazine. Is that correct?

For the most part. Of course there is always exceptions and some guns really don't like some mags and I have not tested them all. So far I haven't had any problems. Do a little research you can find tons of ppl that say which mags are best in their opinion. Most 1911 parts are interchangeable but not all parts are created equal.
