I’m picking up my new Ronin 9mm this afternoon. Should I clean it before firing it?

Ok, I read a little deeper. I will clean and lube before firing.

When i pick up a new pistol i at home field strip the pistol. I then oil and examine parts. Check the trigger, firing pin, safety etc. I ensure all function. Also the slide glides. I also remove the springs from the magazines and ensure the magazine functions and the rounds i load empty manually, never in the pistol. I also dry fire the pistol several times.

I field strip, clean and lube my weapons prior to their maiden voyage. Congrats on the new Ronin. I have the commander size in a .45 and she's awfully sweet!
Let us know how yours performs.

First take down and clean a disaster. All went fine until trying to put the slide stop in-no way it would work. Could not get it past the safety (?) pin. After an hour of trying, I call Ruger and guy confirms that I must use credit card or screwdriver to slip the slide stop in. Got it to work, but rats, that is no way to design anything much less a gun. so, I’m not a Springfield fan right now but hopefully when I shoot it for the first time today I will learn to appreciate the gun. Yep, I have idiot scratch’s.
