Rainbirda day ago Maybe even before you even research the candidates you should actually research what it takes to repeal an amendment. First off you need the support and votes of 2/3 of both houses of congress. After that it must be ratified by 3/4ths of the states. The president does not get a vote. So all of this "[Obama | Hillary] is comin' for your guns boys!" talk is just BS to stimulate gun sales and strike fear into the republican voter.

Garvin Rainbird9 hours ago Actually it is not BS. You don't have to repeal the 2A to outlaw guns. You can merely regulate them out of existence. If you make it hard enough to own them people will slowly quit owning them.

Reinterpreting Is as Bad as Repealing

Many people know far too little about history or about how to read historical documents. To understand any document, one must study its historical context. The historical context of the 2nd Amendment was the Revolutionary War and the debate among the Founders over whether or not the USA would have a standing army. Anyone who has 2 brain cells to rub together can study a little and then figure out that the intent of 2nd Amendment was to empower future generations to do what the Founders had just done: combat an oppressive government! (I am NOT presently suggesting any American do that.)

While the intent of the 2nd is perfectly clear to anyone who is not blinded by some agenda, many people choose to misunderstand or misrepresent it. For ex., some people think/pretend the 2nd is about hunting. It's not! It's not even about defending our homes from criminals.

If the Supreme Court were to "Reinterpret" (pervert) the 2nd, then the right could be removed from common citizens. A liberal, stupid, historically-ignorant "reinterpretation" would be as bad as a repeal. If that were to happen, then millions of law-abiding citizens would instantly become criminals, BUT the new perverted interpretation would in no way affect the REAL criminals. By definition, people who commit crimes with guns fail to obey gun laws, so gun laws only affect law-abiding citizens.

The Second Amendment is a right and not an option.

Tuesday the 8th is approaching rapidly.
If you haven't voted yet do so and remember who wants to take your guns.

You are absolutely correct! However, sadly, the fact that you are correct does not negate the possibility that a corrupt, self-enriching politician could appoint an idiot to the Supreme Court and that the Court could then WRONGLY interpret the 2nd. Truth does not concern people who mistake their opinions for reality.
