Looking to get a 22 rifle soon.... Been looking at Rugers 10/22 tactical version... I know these 10/22s are highly rated and been around a long time but..... Any suggestions of some new rifles to look at... I wanna start average and then add mods as needed

in my opinion a.tactical .22 is just a .22 that is trying to hard. you can't go wrong with the 10/22. the amount of options and parts I think is unmatched by any other firearm. I own a Remington 597. I like it a lot but it defiantly suffers from magazine issues. that in my opinion has yet to be resolved.

why a tactical version? a .22 it's great for small game and learning the shoot or plinking .I don't see the point of going all tactical with it.

The best we've found is the CZ 452 bolt gun. My wife's is a Scout model for dwarfs (yes she hits me a lot for some reason :D) and mine is Military Training Rifle. Both are designed for use of iron or scope sights. They are made in a country where you cannot easily own firearms so they are made to last a lifetime and are very accurate. We love them.

Aithough my most recent purchase was a removable magazine Marlin (925R) that shoots well, the Idea that it only uses LR in that mag. and all other (short, longs) are relegated to single shot. So my preferred .22 is a tube magazine that takes all 3 lengths, like the Marlin 81DL. This also was a very accurate reliable weapon.

Picked up my Ruger 10/22 takedown today($249). Gotta now start looking for upgrades I want. What really surprised me was that Dicks gave me a $100 discount due to their Grand opening week. Now I just gotta find ammo......
