Just ordered a Ronin Commander .45 I found on line for what I thought was a reasonable price these days. Looking forward to giving it a go at the farm. Anyone have a pic of theirs with some G10 grips installed? Thought I might buy some and save those pretty wooden ones.

I haven't shot it as yet, but the grip safety is identical to the one on my RO Elite. I have no trouble with that one. It fits well in my hand, is comfortable and goes bang when I pull the trigger. This Ronin feels the same way. Hoping to get out this afternoon and run a half dozen or so mags through it. Yesterday the weather said it would be sunny and about 40 but now they are calling for a rain/snow mix by mid afternoon and temps in the mid 30's. Might have to postpone the shooting session, we'll see.
Thanks for replying Voltaire. Comments are rather sparse around here.

Ok, just got back home. I took the Ronin out on the farm for its first range session. Overcast and 31 degrees with no wind. I ran 240 grain FMJ reloads that a friend made for me and then some 240 grain FMJ factory Remington rounds. Filled 7 different mags for a total of 52 rounds. I have the 8 rounder that came with it, 2 Wilson Combat 8 rounders and 4 Springfield 7 rounders. It ran 'em all without issue. Very pleased. Comfortable in hand, recoil was manageable, sights were great and all in all really fun to shoot. Can't attest to its accuracy as I was just shooting off hand at steel plates and torsos at ranges from 10 to 70 yards. This was just a get to know you and see how you perform go round. But I mostly hit what I intended to and the rounds seem to strike the targets in the area I was aiming. Good time with the new Ronin. BTW, I did field strip it, clean and lube it prior to going out.

Great to hear you had time to put a few rounds downrange. Alway fun with a new pistol to see how the sights are set. Very impressive to see you shot a few rounds at 70 yards. Sound like the sights were set well and that is a plus. Do you ever change the recoil spring as i assume the recoil spring would be 18 lbs or more? I think everyone cleans and strips them prior to going out. Usually most pistol need a few hundred rounds to be completely run in.

No, never changed the recoil spring on any weapon I've owned.
I was watching the radar and figured I had time to shoot before the rain/sleet arrived. Just about the time I got home it started. Worked out great.
Next time I take her out I'll have some paper targets and shoot from a rest to check the sights and see how she groups. Not sure when that will be as the weather for the rest of the week looks pretty crappy. Want to get some trout fishing in also as they have been stocking.

Most interesting is that WVSurveyor posted a comment on his new purchase, his time fring his new purchase and so many views, yet few comments??? Do other members not find the post interesting? What are views people they are important. What exactly are members here waiting for? We all own pistols, we all have questions so how about a few comments, however brief and we all learn. There is no stupid questions, no stupid answers. We all learn and benefit from what is here. So who exactly has a new pistol for Christmas? We are a small group, ask away. Someone here will be able to help.

with no sight elevation adjustment I guess they think no one would want to target shoot and reload for it. I do like the looks of it.
I go out and shoot paper and steel targets with friends but it's just for fun. I'm sure the rear sight could be easily replaced with a fully adjustable 1911 sight if someone so desired.

Hi, have you ever set up the Ronin on bags/rest and fired a 3 shoot group to see exactly where the group sits from the point of aim? Say at 15 yards, 25 yards? Actually i find that the change of brand ammunition or reloads place at around the same position. I find reducing the recoil spring especially in .45 reduces the muzzle flip, by reducing the recoil spring from say 17/or 18 lbs to 15/16 lbs works well. In 9mm i replace them all with 11 lbs.

Hi WVsurveyor!!! THANK YOU! For some reason, I only wanted to post one pic. each, but it posted three pic.’s of each one. Where do you live? I’m in the sunshine State.🏖😃
I’m thinking of buying a Springfield Range officer in all stainless steel finish. So PRETTY!!!
I changed my mind about Ruger‘s 1911’s, as their slides are “cast”, not forged. A MIM slide. No thanks. Frame is probably cast as well. BUT, it’s a 70 series 1911 (GOOD!) with a titanium firing pin. COLT, loose barrel lock-up on one I saw. Was all black, with black/blue G-10 grips. Don’t know the model. Sig 1911 with beautiful maple grips is another possibility. TISA seems to make good 1911’s, all forged, but wondering about warranty, and resale value. Lastly, another Kimber, but I don’t like they only have a one year warranty. And a NEW Company, Fusion, LOVE their inverted crowned barrels! Know NOTHING about the Company. IDK. Cannot afford: Les Baer, Dan Wesson, Wilson, etc. Wish I could!!!

Sorry, I was referring to my post, with pictures, about QC issues with my new RONIN 45. It was a Christmas gift. If I’d bought it, I wouldn’t have with the issues it has. It’s being sold to my pastor. Then I can get a GOOD one! Not one made Friday afternoon, around closing time! LOL!!! Sloppy QC. Bye-bye RONIN!

I'm in West Virginia. Sorry you're not happy with your Ronin. As I stated, mine is a .45 in the Commander size. It's a very nice weapon. I know it has the polymer trigger, but that's a part that receives very little wear and should last a long time. I hope your pastor gets many many years of use from it. I also hope you find one that's to your liking and also that you can afford. Keep us informed.

Will do! Got snow? Are you in West Virginia? Somewhere else? The Springfield Range officer is my first pick at the moment. In all stainless steel. The black, or black/blued finish on Springfield’s, whatever Kimber uses, can’t stand it!! All stainless steel PLEASE! Sig is still in the hunt, Ruger is out. Fusion is very interesting. Looks like a sub $1000.00 Wilson Combat 1911. Never heard of the company, but I think Dan Wesson owns the Company? I may be wrong, but I think that’s what I heard. We will see! Is anyone selling them? Seems like EVERYONE is making 1911’s these days! SO MANY Companies!!! I NEED to start making them!!!! Anyone want to join me??? If J. Moses Browning could build them WITHOUT CNC machines over 100 years ago! I should be able to!!! 😃😃 LOL!!!
