Posts are drying up, no movement. New members here and nothing is said? There is much for all of us to learn. So who loads their own ammunition? Or why not?
Y'all got my immediate attention with the "Ronin" headline. I want to get my first 1911, and this looks too good. I just read a review in Handguns, again, very nice. What I was hoping to see from you Robin owners is your anecdotal experience with it. I will stay tuned.
The Ronin is a good looking handgun but at todays prices I think I will wait to see if things calm down after the elections. Could be a mistake but I have what I need at this point.
Hey all. I have not been on this forum in several months. Got an email from the forum and it mentioned this "Very Quiet" post. Here's hoping this forum gets active again.
Welcome from Northern Illinois !!
Great purchase.
I have a Range Officer Operator and I have a Ronin on my bucket list when prices calm down a bit.
Good Luck with your new toy...
I reload for every gun i own. 45 for my V-12 and 9mm for my EMP4 contour. Mostly Berrys bullets and powder coated lead from midway. Shooting 3-400 rounds a week in my barn gun range.
That is great, how many times do you reload a case in 45 or 9mm? Shooting 3-400 rounds a week is a great deal of practice, do you also shoot competition?
45 seem to last a long time. I have some that have been loaded at least 5 times rarely have any cracks show up. 9mm is new to me so I do not have any info. I do not compete. I just shoot for my own enjoyment. I also shoot 300 BLK AND 223..
When i had my .45 Gold Cup the reloads were high, way back in 1998 or near enough. .45 are great cases and i used them 30-40 times before they had any splits. In 9mm over the past i found the nickel cases split after about 5-10 reloads. I run some at around 1050 Ft/sec as minor loads with a CZ SP01 Shadow. Then some at 1380 ft/sec for major with my Czechmate. My minor loads using brass cases all brands last 25-35 reloads. My major loads 15-20.

I reloaded 50 rounds today 45 acp 180 gr hi-tek mixed brass that has been loaded Manny times will shoot next weak league with SAMC
That is one hell of a scope on top, what magnification if i may ask? Can't quite make out the make. A red dot like Delta Pro point or Vortex venom not suitable?
So shooting it with a .32 is ok, many use the .22 or even .177 air pistol. I am advised are all getting older, not as strong a grip and not enough practice. With a .22 i shoot around 390ties, and with a 9mm, heavy pistol, one hand just high 200 of low 300. Two hands i do better, as you would. That's ISSF for you.
the weakly league we two rounds of PPC 22 and center fire (48 shots each) and two rounds of Bullseye 22 and center fire (30 shot NMC for each) I do two of four each weak one 22 and one center fire, use 38 or 44 or 45 for center fire. it a fun league you can shot all or just one don't matter just have fun!
Totally agree about having fun. However it is nice to see ones score increase over time. Skill comes from practice and having an accurate firearm. .45 or .44 for centre fire is upping the anti. Well done, i hate .22 and use .38 Super or 9mm. You have great skill if you can score using a .45, or a .44 at 25 yards.
I bought a 38 Super last summer thinking I could load light and have a softer shooting centerfire gun But have not found a bullet that will group well in it been trying light bullets think I will try some heaver bullets this next summer and see how that works.
When reloading my .38 super i use a 125grn projectile and as i use this to shoot major power factor i use 8.2 grns of a slow burning powder. Once i shot minor PF using same projectile and 3,5 grns of a faster burning powder. I also use an STI Trubor race gun. The pistol using Major PF has almost no muzzle flip, perfect.
I find Federal primers the absolute best. Then CCI or Fiocchi. With so many gun shops surely can't be that hard. From what i know it is cheaper in the States to buy 9mm and other ammunition that to reload. Powder (ADI) made in Australia is shipped in massive quantities to America, then rebranded. That leaves us short. So when primers and powder is available i (most people) usually buy 30,000 or 50,000 and poder in 8kg lots. That last an average shooter here 2/3 years+/-.
I purchased my first 1911 and it is the Ronin Operator 5” 9mm. It shoots real nice and smooth. I really enjoy it fully. I would recommend it to those who want one at a good price. I am eyeing the Victor 1911 anyone have one and how is it?
