Ulterior motive is what I'm thinking...

However, it seems odd that the Utah BCI is just raising CFP costs now since this “new” FBI policy went into effect five years ago.

The NRA fears the BCI is using this extra money to fund government programs completely unrelated to the processing of concealed firearm permits – which has reportedly happened in the past.

It looks like maybe the fee increase did not go through the proper channels; however, $57 for a permit does not strike me as unreasonable.

SC (resident) costs $50 for 4 years.
FL (non-resident) costs $87 for 7 years
PA (non-resident) costs $20-30 (fee varies by county) for 5 years.

Those are the only permits I maintain.

Some states charge much higher fees, and some of the more oppressive states charge $50 or more for a permit to OWN a gun; CARRY permits-if you can get one-are an additional, high fee.

Utah residents should be happy they don't live in CA, NY, IL, or NJ.

Ideally, carry permits should be free because carrying is a constitutional right, but I am happy to pay a little money to cover the cost of producing the nice, little license cards!
